I'm Stephen LaPorte, a lawyer interested in the Internet and software.

I'm currently Deputy General Counsel for the Wikimedia Foundation, where I work on legal and public policy matters for the non-profit organization that hosts Wikipedia.

Projects

I co-created Hatnote and various other open source Wikipedia projects with Mahmoud Hashemi. We built Listen to Wikipedia, See Also, Weeklypedia, Wikipedia Top 100, and much more.
I help maintain Montage, an open source jury tool for Wiki Loves Monuments and other photo competitions.
I co-created Collabmark with Yana Welinder. CollabMark is a trademark guide for open source projects and collaborative communities.
